(Creston) – The Lewis Central boys’ track team claimed the Hawkeye Ten Conference title on Thursday with a dominant performance, scoring 162 points to secure the championship. Glenwood took second with 118 points, followed by Clarinda (85), Atlantic (82), and Shenandoah (78), rounding out the top five. This marks the 14th time in the past 15 years that the Rams have secured a top-two finish at the Hawkeye Ten Conference Track Meet.
Lewis Central was led by standout Kevin Coots, who swept the distance events by winning the 3200 meters in 9:34.69 and the 1600 meters in 4:26.33. Brad Dahlman captured the 110-meter hurdles title with a time of 15.06. Leonardo Tatum (21-06.75) and Peyton Phippen (21-06.25) went one-two for the Titans in the long jump. The team also claimed victories in the Distance Medley Relay (3:40.10) and the 4×800-meter relay (8:18.10).
Glenwood was paced by Chase Razor, who won the high jump by clearing 6-00.00. The Rams finished second in the 4×800, 4×400, and 4×100 relays. Victor Cruz placed second in the 400 meters (50.60), while Aiden Lopez earned runner-up honors in the 110-meter hurdles (15.27).
Clarinda saw strong performances from Cooper Phillips, who won the 400 meters in 50.22, and Kyle Wagoner, who claimed the 800 meters in 1:58.52.
Atlantic had a standout night, winning three relays and setting two school records. The 4×100 relay team of Hansen, McNeal, Killion, and Houser clocked a school-best 43.11. The Shuttle Hurdle Relay squad—Petty, Hepler, Killion, and Mualia—posted another school record at 1:01.32. The Trojans capped off their meet with a first-place and season-best 3:26.81 in the 4×400 relay, with O’Brien, Williams, Rudy, and Petty running strong.

The Trojans, including O’Brien, Williams, Rudy, and Petty, finished the meet with a win in the 4×400 meter relay with a season best (3:26.81).
Elsewhere, Santiago Hernadez of Shenandoah won the 400-meter hurdles in 55.79, brought home the first-place finish in the Sprint Medley in 1:35.56, and earned gold in the 4×200-meter relay in 1:30.49.
Cale Hall of Red Oak won the 200 meters in 22.26 and earned gold in the 100 meters in 10.93.
Tom Mikklesen of Creston won the Shot Put with a toss of 57-01.50, and teammate Brayden Schoon won the discus with a heave of 170-00.
