(Atlantic) The Atlantic Trojans football team is preparing for their official opener at Glenwood on Friday night. After graduating 22 seniors from last year’s 6-4, playoff-qualifying team, the Trojans are looking to fill a number of positions this season. One of those positions is quarterback.
Atlantic Head Coach Joe Brummer talked about the prospective starters during Saturday’s Annual Coaches preview show at the Backfield Sports Bar and Grill in Walnut. Coach Brummer says that following Friday’s scrimmage at Shenandoah, they are still evaluating the position. Senior Brandon Wagner and Sophomore James Brauer both took snaps during the scrimmage.
Coach Brummer admits rotating quarterbacks is not in the cards.
Coach Brummer says the decision will be made this week about who will respond and who will learn.
Brummer admits Wagner is not large in size at 5’8, 150 pounds; however, he has experience on his side.
Coach Brummer says Sophomore James Brauer is 6’2 and will be the guy eventually, whether now or later.
We will have the broadcast on KS95-7 F.M., on Friday. The pre-game show starts at 6:00 p.m., with the kick-off at 7:00 p.m. The game will also be live-streamed on westerniowatoday.com (KS95).
