(Lewis) The above-normal temperatures for February allow some producers to start field work early. Iowa State Extension Agronomist Aaron Saeugling says the weather pattern is highly unusual for this time of year.
Saeugling says spreading dry fertilizer on pastures is something he would not do this early in the year.
Saeugling says the soil temperature was around 30 degrees during the last check. He has reservations about soil moisture going into the spring. He said the January snow sunk in, but the region is still very dry, with stream flows extremely low.
