(Atlantic) Colton Anderson of the Atlantic FFA “had himself a day” at the Cass County Fair Swine Show on Sunday, capturing the show’s top honors. Anderson exhibited both the Supreme Market Hog and the Supreme Breeding Gilt, earning the highest awards across both the 4-H and FFA divisions. Anderson admitted this was the best showing day of his career. Anderson started showing sheep in his early days of showing, and then switched to hogs. This has worked out well for him.
Brooklyn Steffen, of Benton Franklin, exhibited the overall Champion 4H Market Hog, and finished as the runner-up to Colton Anderson for Supreme Market Hog Honors. Steffen says this is the highest finish for her.
Quincy Robinson of Washington G.E.M. showed the Champion Market Barrow, showed the Reserve Supreme Breeding Gilt, and was also selected as Champion Overall Showman. Robinson talked about the competition, noting early mornings and late nights. His other highlight was showing with his two brothers, Lane and first-year showman Quade.
In the 4H Market Pen, Hunter Wise of Pleasant Noble took top honors, and Blaine Buffington of the Griswold Clubsters was reserve.
In the FFA Pen competition, Abbi Richter won the top prize. In the FFA market classes, Colton Anderson won both Champion Market Gilt and Champion Market Barrow. Brookelyn Steffen of CAM FFA earned Reserve Champion Market Gilt, while Caden Will of CAM FFA was named Reserve Champion Market Barrow.
