(Ames, IA) – The Iowa State Cyclones are going to the 65th AutoZone Liberty Bowl to take on Memphis. This will be the fourth appearance for the Cyclones in the Liberty City Bowl and their 18th appearance in a bowl game.
This upcoming game for the Cyclones is the sixth bowl game in the last seven seasons for Iowa State as they have seen elements of success in the last seven seasons. Iowa State is 1-0 against Memphis overall as they east defeated the Tigers in the same bowl game back in the 2017 season. The Cyclones are 1-2 in the Liberty City Bowl as they lost in 1972 to Georgia Tech and in 2012 to Tulsa. The Cyclones may have a good record against Memphis overall but are just 5-12 all-time in bowl games.
Head coach Matt Campbell will coach in his third bowl game, which marks the most for an Iowa State head coach in the history of the football program. The Cyclones are going to Memphis, Tennessee with six league wins on December 29th at 2:30 p.m. to battle Memphis for the second time overall.
