(Atlantic) The Atlantic girls placed three runners in the top twenty and scored 106 points in the 12-team field at the Atlantic Invitational Cross Country Meet at the Nishna Hills Golf Course on Thursday.
Claire Pellett led the squad with a fourth-place finish out of the 100 runners competing in the meet. Belle Berg finished in 20th, Katrina Williams, 24th, Megan Birge, 38th, Makenna Schoeder, 41, Hailey Huffman, 44, and Elynor Brummer, 47th.
Megan Birge (left) ran a personal best time of 22:50.85. Top-four finisher Claire Pellett (right) ran her season-best time of 19:41.68. Birge and Pellett met with the media after the race.
The Atlantic boys team finished sixth out of 14, with 140 points. Bennett Whetstone (left) and Alex Sonntag (right) led the way with overall finishes of 13th and 17th place, respectively.
Atlantic Head Coach Dan Vargason summarized the team’s performance after the meet.
