(Des Moines) Heat and humidity will begin building again through the weekend and into early next week, bringing increasingly dangerous conditions across the area.
The National Weather Service issued a Heat Advisory for all of Southwest, Central, and North Central Iowa from noon on Saturday to noon on Sunday.
On Saturday, heat index values are expected to range from 100° to 105°F. Conditions will become even more oppressive on Sunday and Monday, when heat indices could approach 110°F or higher.
In addition to the heat, there will be chances for thunderstorms beginning Saturday night and continuing again Sunday into early Monday. If storms develop, they could become severe.
