(Des Moines) Governor Kim Reynolds announced that the U.S. Small Business Administration has approved her request to provide low-interest disaster loans for eight Iowa counties affected by severe storms, heavy rain, and flash flooding that occurred between July 2 and July 4, 2026.
Homeowners, renters, businesses, and most nonprofit organizations in Boone, Dallas, Jasper, Madison, Marion, Polk, Story, and Warren counties whose property was damaged or destroyed by the storms are eligible to apply for low-interest disaster loans through the SBA.
Small businesses, agricultural cooperatives, and most private nonprofit organizations impacted by the severe weather may also apply for working capital loans.
Disaster loan applications can be submitted online through the SBA or in person at designated assistance centers. Information about assistance center locations and hours is available through Iowa’s disaster recovery website. Applicants may also contact the SBA Customer Service Center by phone or email for additional information.
The deadline to apply for physical damage loans is September 21, 2026. Applications for economic injury loans must be submitted by April 23, 2027.
