(Des Moines) The National Weather Service issued a high wind warning from noon today to midnight tonight.
Brad Small, a meteorologist from the National Weather Service in Des Moines, says southwest Iowa is a bullseye for the hurricane-force winds.
Small says damaging winds may blow down trees and power lines, causing power outages.
Travel may be difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles. Fires may spread quickly, with blowing dust possible as well.
People should stay inside in the lower levels of a building during the windstorm and avoid windows.
