(Huxley) Ashton Hermann led Ballard in the air and on the ground in a 48-0 win over Atlantic in a non-district football game at Huxley on Friday night.
The senior quarterback completed 9-15 passes for 188-yards, and three touchdowns, and carried the ball ten times for 139 yards, and two touchdowns. For Atlantic, Caden Andersen completed 7-12 passes for 24 yards, Ethan Sturm was on the receiving end of three passes for 11 yards, and Dante Hedrington carried the ball 17 times for 17 yards.
Eli Rouse sparked the scoring binge with an 18-yard touchdown run with 4:28 left in the first quarter. The Bombers struck again as time ran out in the first period on a long touchdown pass. Jayden Cattell sprung loose on a post pattern and Hermann hit the target for a 70-yard catch and run to pay dirt. The Bombers failed on both PAT attempts and led 12-0.
In the second quarter, Herman and Rouse legged out touchdown runs of 13 and 12 yard runs respectively, and Gabe Christensen crossed the goal line on back-to-back two-point conversions to put the home team up 28-0 at the half.
Ballard kept the momentum going in the third quarter shutting down the Trojans’ offense and countering with three scores. Hermann raced in from 12-yards out, and Ihle caught a four-yard pass in the third quarter to push the score to 42-0. Gabe Christensen notched the final score on the board with a seven-yard TD jaunt early in the fourth quarter to bring the score to the final, 48-0.
Ballard moves to 2-2 on the season. Atlantic falls to 1-3.
