(Des Moines) Traffic accidents in Clarke and Winneshiek Counties claimed 2 lives on Saturday.
The Iowa State Patrol says 53-year old Andrew Nesset of New Richmond, Wisconsin, died in a collision on Saturday afternoon in Winneshiek County, near Decorah. The Patrol says Nesset was driving a 2009 Toyota southbound in the northbound lanes on Pole Line Road and collided with a 2012 Ford F150 driven by 75-year old Lyle Phillips of Decorah. The Toyota ended up in the ditch, and the pickup came to rest in the southbound lane. Winneshiek EMS transported Phillips and Nesset to the Winneshiek County Medical Center.
The second fatality happened in Clarke County. The Iowa State Patrol says 38-year old Jose Murillo-Rangel, of Osceola, was killed in a single-vehicle accident late Saturday night at Kendall Street and 240th Avenue. According to the report, 20-year old Brian Rosales of Osceola lost control of the 2015 Ford F150 on a gravel road. The pickup slid into the ditch, struck a driveway embankment, and collided with a vehicle parked in the driveway.
Jose Murillo-Rangel was ejected and pronounced deceased at the scene. Clarke EMS transported Rosales to the Clarke County Jail.
