(Tabor) (6-1) Fremont-Mills is appearing in their fifth consecutive quarterfinal game, and sixth in the last seven years. The Knights have made it to the dome in three out of the last four years and won a state title in 2011.
This year’s journey to the final eight has been quite unusual, to say the least. The Knights started the season with three straight wins averaging nearly 60-points per outing before sitting idle for three consecutive weeks with issues dealing with COVID-19.
Fremont-Mills Head Coach Jeremy Christiansen compares their season to playing a game of Shoots-and-Ladders.
Fremont-Mills teams since 2010 are a combined 99-17. Coach Christiansen gives all the credit to the players and their offseason work.
Coach Christiansen admits they’re preparing for a CAM team that is similar to his squad, they’re run-heavy, fundamentally sound on defense, and control the line of scrimmage on offense.
CAM’s running game is impressive. Up to this point, the Cougars have logged 2,269 yards on the ground led by Lane Spieker, who has rushed for 1,507 yards, a per-carry average of 9.3 yards, and 31 touchdowns. Colby Rich leads the receiving corps with 21-catches for 423 yards.
Turnovers most always play a big part in games such as these. CAM has forced 14 fumble recoveries and nine interceptions over nine games. Fremont-Mills has nine fumble recoveries and 14 interceptions in seven games.
The kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. We will have the broadcast on 95.7 F.M. Pre-game starts at 6:15 p.m.
