(Des Moines) A Flash Flood Warning is in effect until 11 a.m. Friday for northern Adair County, northeastern Cass County, southern Audubon County, and southern Guthrie County.
According to the National Weather Service in Des Moines at 4:52 a.m. Friday, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 5 inches of rain have already fallen, with additional rainfall rates of 1.5 to 3 inches per hour possible.
Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. The flooding threat includes small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, underpasses, and other poor-drainage and low-lying areas.
Communities and locations that could experience flash flooding include Stuart, Anita, Exira, Adair, Dexter, Casey, Diamondhead Lake, Menlo, Brayton, Anita Municipal Airport, and Lake Anita State Park.
Additionally, a Flash Flood Warning is in effect until 7:45 a.m. on Friday for North Central Pottawattamie and Southern Shelby Counties. A Flash Warning is also in effect for Northern Harrison County until 7:15 a.m. on Friday.
