(Harlan) Hope Hammontree stayed undefeated in singles, and Taryn O’Brien and Dylin Ball remain unblemished in doubles as Atlantic topped Harlan in girls’ tennis on Thursday, 9-0 at Harlan. Atlantic Head Coach Mike McDermott says the match was backed up because of the stormy weather. McDermott was proud of the way his team battled through the afternoon heat.
Jacobi Harter, playing at No. #1 singles got back into the swing of things with an 8-3 win over Chloe Swensen of Harlan, and Lily Willrich topped Maria. José Guerrero-Luna, 8-2.
Dylin Ball downed Sophie Freund of Harlan, 8-4. Taryn O’Brien picked up a win for Trojans with an 8-4 win over Kerrigan Kruse; Sophie Rose continues to impress with an 8-1 win over Ava Bauman, and Hope Hammontree is now 3-0 in singles with a decisive 8-0 win over Stephanie Urizar-Lopez.
In doubles, Harter/Willrich teamed for an 8-2 win over Swensen/Luna, Ball/O’Brien topped Freund/Kruse in a tiebreak, and Rose/Hammontree swept Bauman/Lopez, 8-0.
