(Oakland, IA) — There is a new sheriff in town for the Riverside Football team as Tyler Johannsen steps in as the team’s Head Coach. Practice is under way this week for the Bulldogs in preparation for a Week Zero game against Red Oak. However, do not expect much changes in how things are run — Johannsen says things have just carried over from the last school year
Riverside went 6-3 last season but leading rusher Jaxon Gordon and starting QB Landyn Schoenrock have graduated. Johannsen says there are four guys competing for the starting QB spot — Senior Peyton Amdor, Senior Uriah Reed, Senior Cole Jeppesen, and Junior Kort Rieken. Johannsen says they are getting closer to figuring out who the starter will be
Johannsen says under Darrell Frain Riverside had high expectations each year and nothing is different this year
Riverside will once again be in Class A District 7 with AC/GC, AHSTW, Mount Ayr, Nodaway Valley, and Southwest Valley.
