(Audubon, IA) — The Audubon School Board voted 5-0 on Thursday night to implement the shared athletic agreement with Exira EHK starting the winter of this school year. Exira EHK’s School Board had voted earlier in the month to share athletics so it is now official. A few details will need to be ironed out such as if one school wants to exit the agreement for one sport, what the length of time they give the other as notice. Exira EHK and Audubon Superintendent Trevor Miller that will be worked on between the two schools and will need further board approval. Overall, Miller says this agreement is the right thing to do
The final agreement is four years for all girls sports except volleyball and three years for all boys sports except varsity football. Miller says everything came together quickly but there was a lot of work put into it
The next step is for both schools to come together and get the schedules ready for basketball this winter
Audubon Athletic Director Sean Birks said that he will be meeting with the Rolling Valley Conference on Monday to talk about scheduling as well.
