Sharalynn Kay Campbell was born May 2, 1943, in Audubon County, Iowa on the family farm, the daughter of Stanley N.C. Hansen and Gerda A. (Pedersen) Hansen. Sherry attended country school near her home until high school. She attended and graduated from Audubon High School in 1961. Sherry and Howard Gene Campbell were united in marriage March 23, 1962, in Audubon, Iowa at the Ebenezer Lutheran Church. They were blessed with three children, Kimberly Kay, James Howard, and Tina Louise. The family moved to Clarinda, Iowa in 1966 where Howard began his Chiropractic practice.
Raising her children was Sherry’s top priority and when her children were older, she worked for J&S Tax Service in Clarinda and at the TRINCA sign company for Larry Ross. She later joined her husband, Dr. Campbell, in his Chiropractic practice as the bookkeeper and receptionist.
Sherry grew up attending Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Audubon County where she was baptized, confirmed and married. She played the church organ for a few years as a young woman. She was a member of the Clarinda and New Market Methodist Church for years and enjoyed being a part of her Sunday School group, the circle group and working with the Sew and Share. She was a member of the Red Hats in Clarinda and Xi Alpha Phi sorority.
Both Howard and Sherry loved dancing and spent many enjoyable years square dancing with the Circle 8 Club. Sherry also enjoyed cross stitching and did some gardening; however, it may not have been one of her favorite things to do! She was a beautiful pianist and played for many years. Sherry LOVED spending time with her kids, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She often said, “oh my, this is a lot of family!!” Howard always said if he would have just stayed in Davenport that Christmas it never would have happened….
Preceding Sherry in death were her husband of 53 years, Howard Campbell (01/28/2017); parents, Stanley and Gerda Hansen; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Lois Hansen; parents-in-law, Frank and Dorothy Campbell; brothers and sisters -in-law, Rich and Loretta Campbell, Jack and Doris Greer, Ken and Francis Fairchild, Dwight Persels; son-in-law, Jason Severson.
