(Greenfield, IA) — Nodaway Valley softball took a step forward this year with a 14-14 overall record which is the most wins since 2021 and the first time they have been .500 or better since 2016. Emma Boswell was named Third Team All State despite a position switch mid season and battling a shoulder injury. Boswell tied a school record with 41 runs scored in a season and she was among four players on the Pride of Iowa All Conference Team. Co Head Coach Ryan Zenor says there were a number of team records set this year as well
The biggest reason for the Wolverines improvement was pitching. After an 8.27 ERA in 2025, three Nodaway Valley players teamed up to cut it almost in half at 4.17. 8th grader Ellie Zenor, Sophomore Ella Boswell and Freshman Aubree Williams all improved says Coach Zenor but it was his daughter Ellie who emerged as the number one hurler by the end of the season with a 1-6 record and 3.14 ERA
Nodaway Valley has a strong collection of young hitters — Ella Boswell hit .462, 2 HR, 26 RBI; Sophomore Taylor Laughery .358; Sophomore Mattison Thompson .319; Zenor hit .280; Freshman Chloe Ohms tailed off a little and hit .247; Addison Glade is the only Junior starter this season and batted .342. Coach Zenor believes there is more talent on the way
In addition to Emma Boswell, the other seniors are Izzy Eisbach, Lea Stonebraker, Chloe Rardin and Caroline Britten. Kynnady Van Eaton is another Senior who played in 6 games but had to leave the team early in the summer.
