(Adair Co.) Adair County Attorney Melissa Larson officially announced her resignation Monday morning during the Adair County Board of Supervisors meeting.
The Supervisors accepted Larson’s resignation with regret. Her last day as Adair County Attorney will be August 14.
The resignation follows Governor Kim Reynolds’ announcement on July 29 that she appointed Larson as a district associate judge in Judicial District 5A.
Larson, of Greenfield, earned her undergraduate degree from Grand View University and her law degree from Drake University.
Larson will fill a vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Virginia Cobb.
Judicial District 5A includes Dallas, Guthrie, Jasper, Madison, Marion and Warren counties.
Larson noted that once she signs her oath this week, she will no longer be able to appear in District Court. However, she will be able to work behind the scenes to help prepare the office for the transition. Larson presented a resolution to the board concerning the appointment of special prosecutors. The resolution was approved by the Supervisors.
