(Guthrie Center, IA) — AC/GC Softball went through a rough season last year with just two wins but Head Coach Tyler Merical is hoping his young talent will start to mature this season. In the circle, the Chargers lose their #1 pitcher Jayla Hoover so Mericale will turn to Sophomore Megan Underwood and Freshman Jerzee Huss to share the spot
Offensively, AC/GC will build around their two seniors — Caydence Boals hit .250 and will play catcher and first base and Karlee Kautzky hit .308 last year to lead the team and will anchor the infield at shortstop. Merical needs more offensive production after hitting .199 as a team a year ago
Junior Liv Mahaffey will also provide some experience. Two years ago, the Chargers were at the .500 level and Merical says the girls want to improve and get back to that level
AC/GC will open their softball season next Wednesday at Nodaway Valley
