(Cherokee) The Iowa State Patrol says an Iowa teen died in a single-vehicle crash in Cherokee County. Three other juveniles suffered injuries.
The accident happened at 2:33 p.m. on Saturday at C66 near J Avenue. Authorities identified the deceased victim as a 15-year-old male from Cushing, Iowa.
According to the report, a 16-year-old male from Cherokee, Iowa, was driving a 2004 Grand Prix GT2 westbound on C66 just west of J Avenue, and for unknown reasons, the car lost control, entered the ditch, rolled over, and struck a utility pole. The car came to rest facing southeast and caught on fire.
A 16-year-old rear passenger, from Cherokee, was airlifted to Sanford Medical Center. A 14-year-old front passenger, from Washta, Iowa, was transported by Cherokee EMS to the Cherokee Regional Medical Center. The 16-year-old male driver, of Cherokee, suffered minor injuries and was taken to CRMC.
