(Guthrie Center) A detached trailer caused property damage Friday evening in Guthrie Center after coming loose from a pickup truck.
According to the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred at approximately 5:29 p.m. on State Street near North 1st Street. Authorities say 39-year-old Lee Tatro of Cedar Rapids was driving a 2000 Chevrolet K2500 while pulling a boat trailer.
The trailer became unhitched from the pickup and struck an overhead door on a nearby building, resulting in damage.
Officials report that Tatro acknowledged the trailer’s safety chains were not connected at the time because they were too short.
