(Denison, IA) — Cauy Konz of Treynor lit up the track in Denison at the Ace Nelson Relays, winning the 100 meter dash and running the 2nd fastest time in the state of Iowa. Konz ran a blistering time 10.50 seconds — he had already qualified for the Drake Relays but had not achieved the blue standard of 10.75 before the deadline. He did on Monday night and blew past it. Konz also won the 110 Hurdles and set a new season PR of 14.30 seconds which is tied for the 5th fastest time in the state. He finished his night by anchoring the 4×100 relay with a season PR of 42.52 seconds which is the 12th fastest time in the state. Others on the relay include Drew Meyers, Riley Lauver and Kratyn Dirks.
Treynor won the meet with 118 points ahead of Cherokee in 2nd with 95 points. Other top finishes for the Cardinals include relay wins in the 4×200 (1:32.20) and 1st in the Distance Medley (3:56.10); Lauver won the High Jump (6-00).
Boyer Valley’s Dane Gorham won both the 400 (50.00) and 1600 (4:43.95) and set season PRs in both events.
Harlan’s Jeffrey Gross won the 3200 (10:10.20); the Cyclones 4×100 team was 2nd and got a season PR of 43.70 (Ayden Redmon-Stephenson, Jackson Ahrenholtz, Cade Nelson and Hagen Sorensen). The Cyclones also won the Sprint Medley with Redmon-Stephenson, Ahrenholtz, Sorensen and Foxx Argotsinger with a season PR time of 1:36.80 and were also 2nd in the 4×200 and 4×400.
Tri Center was led by AJ Harder who was 4th in the 400 (52.80); Rylan Ring was 4th in the 110 Hurdles (15.90, season PR)
In the girls meet, Denison Schleswig won with 140 points ahead of Tri Center with 130 points.
Tri Center’s Tess Casey won the 400 (1:01.70); Reese Dittmer won the 1500 (5:31.00); the Trojans won the Sprint Medley (1:57.30) and the Shuttle Hurdle (1:11.80, season PR)
Morgan Hast of Boyer Valley won the 100 (12.10) with a season PR and was 2nd in the 200 (25.61) also with a season PR.
