(Creston, IA) – Southwestern Community College has named Paul Purvis as their new athletic director. The Bellevue, Nebraska native will take over as the athletic director on April 30th.
Paul Purvis brings over 30 years of high school and college coaching experience while also bringing administrative experience. He was notably part of the Tennessee football staff from 1997-2001 and was part of the team that won the National Championship in 1998. As a player, Purvis played football for the University of Mississippi. He has an extensive background in both athletics and in education, something that Lindsay Stoaks, Southwestern Community College President, was impressed with when looking at Purvis.
In a statement made after the announcement, Purvis stated, “I am enthusiastic about contributing to Southwestern’s continued success and fostering an environment that nurtures the growth of student-athletes both on and off the field.”
He will be moving with his wife, Christine, to the Creston area.
