(Des Moines, IA) – With the weather postponing a few events to today, the Drake Relays finished up for the 2024 season with many of our local athletes finishing very well against some of the top talent from across the state. Today was focused on multiple relay events and a few long-distance events to go alongside.

Starting with the girl’s events in the 400m dash, Eden Moore earned second for Van Meter. In the 1500m run, Lili Denton earned seventh for St. Albert and Laura Streck for Van Meter earned ninth.
For the girl’s team events, Fremont-Mills was able to earn 11th in the girls’ shuttle hurdle relay. In the first round of the 4x100m relay, Glenwood earned 19th, Atlantic finished 42nd, Van Meter earned 48th, Nodaway Valley was able to capture 67th, Clarinda finished 81st, Underwood in 83rd, Fremont Mills in 89th, Treynor in 91st, and Lewis Central in 94th. Just one local team finished in the 4x800m relay which included Van Meter in 8th. The girl’s 4x400m relay featured Carroll in 14th.
In the individual events for the boys, the 400m hurdles featured Ryce Reynolds of Mount Ayr in second, Lenox’s Gabe Funk in fourth, Karson Elwood of Treynor in 13th, and CAM’s Jack Follman was in 15th. Looking at the 1600m run, Woodbine’s Landon Bengden finished in 9th, Lewis Central’s Ethan Eichorn earned 13th,
For the boy’s relay events, in the 4x110m shuttle hurdle relay, Treynor finished in 10th and Underwood earned 14th. Looking at the first round of the 4x100m relay, Harlan finished in 6th, Shenandoah earned 18th, Glenwood finished in 23rd, finishing in 32nd was Treynor, Atlantic was featured in 52nd, ACGC finished 54th, Earlham earned 58th, Underwood was able to capture 79th, and Mount Ayr finished in 89th overall.
