(Des Moines) Under a bill passed by the House, Iowa’s elected officials would receive a $10,000 pay raise.
State Representative Joel Fry from Osceola says they’re paid $25,000 annually, in addition to expense payments for housing and gas during the session.
Griswold Iowa House District #18 Representative Tom Moore says the raise will help some younger or prospective legislators seeking office.
Representative Moore says it’d be lawmakers’ first raise since 2007.
