(Orlando, Florida) The Iowa Hawkeyes is one of only nine FBS football programs with an active bowl game appearance streak for ten-plus years. The Hawkes matchup against Tennessee on January 1, at noon in the Cheez-It-Citrus Bowl at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida.
The Hawkeyes enter the bowl season following its third Big Ten West Division crown under Kirk Ferentz in 2023 (2015, 2021, 2023). Iowa won 10 games in the regular season for the seventh time (five under Ferentz), and it is the 11th 10-win season in program history (eight under Ferentz). The veteran coach, with 196 career wins, has ten career bowl game victories and is tied for the most in the Big Ten Conference.
In the Hawks’s regular season, he included consensus All-Americans, defensive back Cooper DeJean, and punter Tory Taylor. Defensive Coordinator Phil Parker is the recipient of the Frank Broyles Award and the AFCA Assistant Coach of the Year. He is the first Hawkeye to win the Broyles and the third to earn the top AFCA honor.
The Hawkeyes are 5-1 in 2023 in games decided by seven points or less.
