Calvin Dee Grobe, the son of Raymond Christian and Henrietta Elaine (White) Grobe, was born August 3, 1942, in Council Bluffs, IA. Calvin died November 19, 2023, at his home north of Oakland, IA, at the age of 81 years, 3 months, and 16 days.
Calvin graduated with the Class of 1960 from Oakland High School. He attended college for a short time before enlisting in the Army in 1965, he served for six years with an Honorable Discharge in 1971. After serving his country, he returned to college at Morningside and graduated with a B.A. in Business. On January 28, 1972, Calvin and Deanne Gaskell were married at the Wesley Methodist Church in Sioux City, Iowa. They lived most of their time in Storm Lake and Sioux City before moving back to the family farm in 2005, where they farmed and raised cattle.
Calvin was a member of the Oakland United Methodist Church. He had attended Auction School and had belonged to Toastmasters.
Calvin is preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Kristin Judkins.
He is survived by his wife Deanne; his daughters: Lesley (Mike) Krummel, Kathryn Meinders, and Nicole (Mark) Lowe; his grandchildren: Jordan (Mindy) Krummel, Lacey (Shane) Brockhoff, Brittney (Tyrel) Licktieg, Emma Grobe, Erika and Tank Meinders, Alec and Noah Heggen, and Hannah Judkins; fifteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; his sister Nancy Strong and his brother Lynn (Carolyn) Grobe.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at 11:00 AM, at the Oakland United Methodist Church. Visitation with the family will take place one hour prior to the funeral service. Interment will be in Oaklawn Cemetery at Oakland. Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland is assisting the family.
