(Bedford, IA) – The Bedford Bulldogs earned a 36-24 win over Lenox as they continue to bring their undefeated season to the UNI-Dome. For the second straight game, the Bulldogs were down at halftime and came out of the gates in the second half ready to play as they scored 22 points and held Lenox to just six points in the fourth quarter. Head coach Jeremy Nally was proud of his team for not panicking and utilizing their game to come back.
Garrison Mottsinger really stuck out in the game against Lenox. The junior rushed for 190 yards and three touchdowns to help pull the Bulldogs higher on the scoreboard. Mottsinger is also averaging 11.4 yards per carry this season as he has continued to help keep Bedford in tight games.
Defensively, the Bulldogs have one player who continues to put up high numbers. Cal Peterman had 14.5 tackles, four tackles for loss, and one sack in the last game against Lenox. Just this season alone, Peterman has 7.5 sacks and 49.5 tackles overall. Coach Nally is proud of how he has continued to get better all season long.
This week, Bedford takes on Gladbrook-Reinbeck at the UNI-Dome. The Rebels run a very balanced offense with 1,807 passing yards and 1,795 rushing yards this season. They are led in the passing game by Isaac Clark with 1,717 passing yards and 29 touchdowns. In the running game, Clark also leads with 686 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns. Regardless of those stats, the Bulldogs are treating this week just like any other week.
Gladbrook-Reinbeck offers up some matchup problems when it comes to the defensive game. One player in particular that causes some trouble offensively for Bedford is Drew Eilers. The Rebels are led in tackling by the junior with 83 tackles and in sacks with 11. Coach Nally wants his team to just continue what they have been doing all season but does realize the matchup issues along the way.
Bedford takes on Gladbrook-Reinbeck this Wednesday at the UNI-Dome. The kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. in Cedar Falls.
