(Des Moines, IA) — Republican gubernatorial candidate Zach Lahn has nominated Iowa Representative Derek Wulf as his Lt. Governor candidate on Friday morning.
Wulf is from Hudson, IA just south of Cedar Falls, graduated from Iowa St. University and currently serves in the Iowa Legislature for District 76 which serves parts of Black Hawk, Tama and Benton counties and currently in his second term. Wulf is a fourth generation Iowa farmer, rancher and businessman. He is currently the House Chair of the Agricultural Committee and is the co-chair of President Trump’s Farmers for Trump Coalition in Iowa. Wulf is married to Dresden since 2007 and has two kids, Aubrey and Claire.
According to a Lahn, “I picked Derek because he shares our belief that Iowa belongs to the people, not the political class, not the special interests, and not the bureaucrats. Most importantly, Derek understands the challenges facing Iowa families because he lives them every day. Together, we will fight to keep Iowa’s young people here, protect family farms, restore excellence in education, secure our communities, defend life, and make Iowa the best place in America to raise a family.”
Lahn’s opponent in the governor’s election is Democrat Rod Sand who also went the ag route for his Lt. Governor, choosing Iowa cattleman Dave Muhlbauer from Manilla.
Wulf will be formally nominated as the Lt. Governor candidate at the Republican State Convention on Saturday in Des Moines.
