(Anita) CAM travels to Stanton on Friday for its’ regular season finale.’ The Cougars are 7-0 on the season, and a win would give them the home-field advantage in post-season play.
Fremont-Mills gave CAM its first real test of the season last week. The Cougars had to overcome a 13-0 deficit to win 37-20. Head Coach Barry Bower credits the team’s resiliency in last week’s come-from-behind win.
Coach Bower says the key for his team on Friday night against Stanton-Essex is to take care of the football and align correctly on defense.
Coach Bower says his defense must contain Stanton’s dual-threat quarterback, Nolan Grebin, who has thrown for 622 yards and rushed for another 197 yards.
The Cougars enter the contest averaging 55 points a game while allowing the opposition an average of 11 points. Quarterback Chase Spieker has completed 63 percent of his passes for 948 yards and 17 touchdowns. The Cougars have rushed for a total of 1,449 yards.
CAM’s defense has recorded 61 tackles for loss and 11 sacks.
