(Exira, IA) – The Spartans earned a win against Sidney in a slow fashion. Exira-EHK was able to come back after a first-play turnover and turn the table. As they got the ball back, they continued to control the field on every level.
In that game, the Spartans relied on seven different players in the rushing game while also earning seven touchdowns. The week before, the Spartans relied specifically on Jameson Kilworth but he was out in the last competition. Head Coach Drew Buckholdt was proud of his athletes for stepping up and carrying the ball while missing their primary rusher.
Alex Hansen was impressive in the rushing game last week as he rushed for 150 yards and earned three touchdowns. His rushing game was not alone as the offensive line helped him the entire way.
This week, Exira-EHK is taking on an undefeated CAM Cougars team that is currently ranked #3 in the state of Iowa. The last time they matched up against one another was an Exira-EHK victory 18-0. Coach Buckholdt knows that this Cougars team is not the same team. They are stronger, more physical, and are just shy of 1,500 yards of total offense.
Coach Buckholdt wants his kids to come out and compete as if they are facing a team that brings all the opportunities in the world.
Exira-EHK has a home-field advantage as the Spartans take on CAM under the lights.
