(Des Moines) Any new automated traffic cameras will need approval from the Iowa Department of Transportation; however, cities and counties can put them anywhere with approval. Iowa DOT can only put the cameras on state highways or interstates. The bill also caps the vendor’s fee on tickets at 5 percent.
