(Ames, IA) — Iowa St. has 57 new football players on their roster this season and 15 of them are from Head Coach Jimmy Rogers former team at Washington St. Last year, Sullivan Schlimgen earned a starting spot at linebacker for the final five games and he will look to start a full season for ISU. The Sophomore from Sioux Falls, South Dakota said Iowa St. was one of his first choices coming out of high school
Schlimgen is expected to start at Middle Linebacker for the Cyclones and one of the holdovers Senior Carson Willich who made three starts will probably start on one side. Schlimgen is impressed with his abilities
Montreze Smith — a transfer from Austin Peay — is the leading contender to also start at Linebacker in the 4-3 scheme. Schlimgen says he is enjoying his time in Ames
