(Winterset) The Iowa State Patrol released the names of the teens involved in the single-vehicle accident near Winterset in Madison County early Sunday morning.
The Iowa State Patrol says the accident happened at 2:30 a.m. on 195th Trail northeast of Winterset. Authorities say 16-year-old Jacob Ryan Short, of Indianola, died in the crash. The passengers are identified as; 15-year old Halley Renee Brown, of Winterset, 17-year old Blake Charles Feuring, of Winterset, and 18-year old Cameron Ryan Johnson of Lorimor, Iowa.
According to the State Patrol, the 2003 GMC Sierra traveling northwest on 195th trail at excessive speeds went out of control, entered the ditch, struck a tree, trapping the 16-year-old driver. Brown was taken by private vehicle to the Madison County Memorial Hospital, Feuring and Johnson were not transported to the hospital.
The Iowa State Patrol suspects alcohol, and the accident remains under investigation.
