(Exira) The Exira-EHK football team earned a spot in the playoffs with a solid finish to end the regular season. The Spartans won three out of their last four games and travel to Remsen, St. Mary’s, in a first-round 8-player post-season contest.
Spartan Head Coach Tom Petersen challenged the team after the CAM loss, and the squad came through with a 50-47 win over Boyer Valley and solid defensive play over Coon Rapids-Bayard in the season finale.’
The Spartans passed a couple of milestones along the way. Quarterback Trey Petersen passed for 509 yards in the 50-47 win over Boyer Valley, at the same time Head Coach Tom Petersen earned his 100th career win as a football coach.
Coach Petersen credited the offensive line and the entire unit for Trey Petersen’s 500-yard passing performance a couple of weeks ago.
The Spartans square off against 8-0 Remsen, St. Mary’s. The Hawks average 70-points per game while allowing on average 14-points per contest.
Spartan quarterback Trey Petersen has thrown for 1,603 yards and 20 touchdowns. Exira-EHK rushing game totals 715 yards, led by Petersen’s 617 yards. Braxton Nielsen leads the Spartans on defense with 43 tackles, five sacks, and 12 tackles for loss.
