(Massena) Earlier this month, the Massena City Council passed a resolution offering tax abatements for residential and commercial development of new or additions to existing structures.
Massena City Councilman Doug Venteicher says additions to existing homes or businesses that increase the property value 10-percent or higher, or new development will receive a 100-percent tax abatement for three-years.
The council is also looking at other options to boost housing development, such as the Council of Governments spec homes project. There is an income limit on who can qualify for these homes. The city is responsible for putting in the foundations.
