(Des Moines) Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds speaking at Wednesday’s press briefing, said Iowa’s recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic continues to move in a positive direction on all fronts.
The Governor says 87 of Iowa’s 99 counties now have a 14-day positivity rate below 10-percent, long-term care facility outbreaks are down to 29, and COVID-related hospitalizations are down 85-percent from the high-point in mid-November.
On Wednesday, the CDC tracker reported that Iowa ranks 22nd in the nation for percent of vaccines administered. Of the 615,100 doses distributed to Iowa, 485,710 doses have been administered, which is about 70-percent. Reynolds says according to Iowa’s numbers, which update slightly faster than the CDC’s site, Iowa is close to one-half million Iowans who have been vaccinated for an administration rate of about 80-percent.
Reynolds says the vaccine supply is increasing, and more Iowans are expected to receive the vaccine every week.
