(Des Moines) According to the National Weather Service in Des Moines the dangerously cold weather will intensify even more from tonight through early next week.
A Wind Chill Warning is in effect for the western Iowa counties of Sioux, Woodbury, Monona, Harrison, Shelby, Pottawattamie, Mills, Montgomery, Page, and Fremont Counties from 9:00 p.m. this evening to noon on Monday. Forecasters call for dangerously cold wind chills as low as 40 below zero.
The rest of southwest and west-central Iowa is under a Wind Chill Advisory until noon today. Forecasters are calling for a wind chill of 25 below zero.
The dangerously cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes.
