Glenn Livingston, 70, of Atlantic, died Friday, March 27, 2020, at his home in Atlantic.
The son of Darrell G. and LaBerta R. (Miles) Livingston was born on October 22, 1949, at the Atlantic Hospital in Atlantic, Iowa.
Glenn spent the majority of his life in Atlantic, and attended Lincoln Elementary School and graduated from Atlantic High School. In 1972, he enlisted in the United States Army National Guard, and received basic training at Fort Dix, New Jersey. Glenn fought for our freedom with the mortar infantry during the Vietnam War and as a mechanic during the Desert Storm Gulf War. He was honorably discharged in 1992.
He was united in marriage to Jane Marie Marxen on September 8, 1973, at the First United Methodist Church in Atlantic.
While still serving in the National Guard, Glenn worked as a masonry tender and helped build the Griswold School and the Council Bluffs National Guard Armory in addition to other area buildings; most still in place today. He was employed with American Builders for 18 years as a painter until its closing and then started in maintenance at DeLong’s in Atlantic until his retirement in 2009.
In Glenn’s spare time he loved watching professional wrestling and westerns on TV. He collected many things and was especially on the lookout for stuffed dalmatians, Winnie the Pooh figurines, and anything with John Wayne. He looked forward to and cherished weekend trips to Denison, Iowa, to visit his Aunt Odie and annual trips with Jane to see family in Loveland, Colorado.
Glenn is survived by his wife of 46 years, Jane of Atlantic; brothers, Dana Lee (Marge) Livingston of Lewis, IA, and Wayne (Diana) Livingston of Lewis, IA; sisters-in-law, Patty Marxen and Leanne Silence, both of Atlantic; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Darrell and LaBerta Livingston and brother, Rick Livingston.
