Volleyball
The Trojans won their first conference match in eight years. A five set victory over Creston on October 1st ended the long losing streak against Hawkeye Ten Conference teams. The Trojans finished the year at 6-36. Haley Rasmussen reached 1,000 career assists.

Cross Country
Atlantic rose to the top fifteen in the rankings at times during the season, but wasn’t fully healthy at the end of the year and came up short of making the state meet. Taylor McCreedy qualified individually and placed 35th in Fort Dodge. Ava Rush finished 9th at the conference meet. The Trojans placed fourth in the Hawkeye Ten team standings. Addie DeArment, Madison Botos, Pluma Pross, Claire Wiederstein, Laney Brosam, Kelsie Siedlik, and Katie Saluk all contributed at the varsity level.
Swimming
Four events scored at the state meet. Aleah Hermansen, Kate Landhuis, Annamaria Lowary, and Clare Christensen teamed up to place 11th in the 200 freestyle relay. They were 11th in the 400 freestyle relay with Hermansen, Alexis Reynolds, Lowary and Christensen. Clare Christensen was 12th in both the 50 and 100 freestyle. Lowary has committed to swim at Midland.
Winter Sports
Basketball
Atlantic lost three straight games to start the year, but won their next four games and played at or near .500 throughout the month of January. Their final record was 9-14. Half of their losses were to teams that qualified for the state tourney. An 80-76 win over Creston on December 13th marked the team’s highest offensive output in several years. Haley Rasmussen’s 88.6% free-throw percentage was #2 in the state for all classes among players with at least 20 attempts.

Spring Sports
2019 Golf
Atlantic made yet another trip to the state tournament as a team. Their 7th place finish in the team scoring was led by an individual 6th place showing out of Baylee Newell. Newell shot an 83 on day one of the tournament before firing a 73 on day two to climb up the leaderboard. She had 17 pars in her final round at state. Alyssa Ginther was 15th at the state tourney. Hannah Alf (46th), Anna Weiser (64th), and Lauren Nicholas (65th) rounded out Atlantic’s varsity lineup at state. Ginther was the individual champion at the Hawkeye Ten Conference Tournament.
2019 Tennis
The program took steps in the right direction and won a pair of duals. Victories were recorded against both Harlan and Audubon. Hana Holtz, Emma Templeton, Gene Martinez, and Chloe Davis played at the top of the lineup while other varsity members throughout the year included Molly McFadden, Nellie Grooms, Molly McFadden, Tessa Grooms, and Olivia Engler. Holtz and Martinez tied for the team lead with five wins apiece.
2019 Soccer
Atlantic upped their win total from the previous year with a 5-11 campaign. The team put together a three match win streak from May 7th to May 16th with triumphs over Creston, Riverside and Carroll. In that span they outscored their opponents 22-5.

2019 Track
It was the best track season for the Trojans in several years. They were the runner-up to eventual state champion Glenwood in the Hawkeye Ten Conference meet. The Rams scored a conference record 193 points and Atlantic was 2nd with 115. Individual conference wins came from Haley Rasmussen in the long jump and 200, Taylor McCreedy in the 3000, and the distance medley relay of Taylor Hansen, Cambry Miller, Alyssa Derby, and Taylor McCreedy. They were represented at the Drake Relays by the 4X400 meter team of Alyssa Derby, Haley Rasmussen, Taylor McCreedy, and Pluma Pross. Pross has committed to run at Briar Cliff.

Summer Sports
2019 Softball
Despite losing a loaded senior class from the previous season the softball program still held their own with a 27-9 record. They were in the hunt for a Hawkeye Ten Conference title until the stretch run of the season. The team won 17 of their first 18 games of the year and their final six regular season games. Baylee Newell was selected to play in the Iowa Girls Coaches Association senior all-state game.
