(Audubon) 15-7 Audubon travels to 20-2 Stanton on Tuesday for a Class 1A Regional quarterfinal game on KSOM. The winner advances to a regional semifinal on Friday.
The Wheelers oppose the Corner Conference runner-up. Coach Darran Miller says, “Anytime you win 20 games in a season you have to appreciate that for them. They’ve had a good season. We have to come ready to play.”
Audubon advanced to this game with a convincing 77-37 win against Orient-Macksburg. The winner of this game advances to take on either top seed Exira-EHK or Sidney. Audubon held a one point lead with :01.5 left against Exira-EHK in the regular season. With a potential rematch on the horizon, but the Wheelers aren’t looking ahead. “Right now we are just worried about Stanton. Stanton is our full 100% focus.”
Audubon has Aleah Hermansen averaging 15 points, 6.5 rebounds, and nearly 3 assists per game. Jaci Christensen averages 12 points and 8.7 rebounds. Leah Subbert averages 10 points per game and is a 77.5% free-throw shooters.
Stanton’s statistical leaders include Hope Ogletree, Jenna Stephens, Kami Tibben, Marleigh Johnson, and Abby Burke. Ogletree and Stephens each average 12 points per game. Tibben puts in 9 point sand 5.5 rebounds per night. Johnson and Burke each average around 8.5 points per game. Burke is shooting 45% from 3-point range.
