(Stuart) The Stuart Police Department says on Tuesday, May 26, at approximately 4:34 p.m., they received a report of an unresponsive two-year-old child in a pond near Union Estates in the 600 block of South Adair Street in Stuart.
Officers with the Stuart Police Department and personnel from Stuart Rescue responded and arrived within minutes of the 911 call. They were subsequently assisted by the Stuart Fire Department, the Iowa State Patrol, and additional emergency responders. Life-saving measures were immediately initiated by first responders. The child was subsequently transported by air ambulance to Blank Children’s Hospital in Des Moines for further medical treatment. No information regarding the child’s current condition is available at this time.
The incident remains under investigation. No additional information is being released at this time out of respect for the family and the ongoing investigation.
