(Elk Horn) Exira-EHK lost their first game of the 2019-20 girls basketball season and hasn’t come up short since. The 7-1 Spartans continue to improve and have won their last three conference games by an average of 36 points per game.
Sophomore Macy Emgarten is among the leading scorers in the conference with her 16.1 points per game average. She’s joined in double figures by freshman Quinn Grubbs at 12.6 points per game, senior Ellie Schultes at 12.4 points per game, and senior Kamryn Waymire at 11 points per game.
The team has made 68 3-pointers on the season which is 2nd most in Class 1A. They are ranked 14th in the latest IGHSAU poll. Their 65 points per game makes them the 4th highest scoring team in 1A.
The Spartans took down West Harrison in their final game before break by a final of 82-22. Emgarten went for 28 points in that matchup while Schultes scored 21. The duo combined to make 8/12 3-point attempts.
Next up is a trip to Ar-We-Va on Friday, January 3rd. Their next home game is a matchup of Rolling Valley Conference leaders when CAM comes to town on Tuesday, January 7th.
