(Indianapolis, IN) —Caitlin Clark will add another major moment to her growing list of accomplishments, serving as grand marshal for the 110th Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge on Sunday, May 24 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
You can listen to play-by-play of the race on 96.5 FM KSOM.
Clark will deliver the traditional command for drivers to report to their cars during the pre-race festivities before “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing.”
“I’m honored to serve as grand marshal of the Indy 500,” Clark said. “I’m looking forward to experiencing an iconic piece of what makes Indiana so special and being part of the time-honored tradition of ‘The Greatest Spectacle in Racing.’”
The former University of Iowa star has quickly become one of the biggest names in sports since being selected No. 1 overall by the Indiana Fever in the 2024 WNBA Draft. Clark earned WNBA Rookie of the Year honors after setting multiple league records, including the all-time rookie assists mark, while also being named First Team All-WNBA.
INDYCAR and IMS President J. Douglas Boles said Clark’s appearance will add excitement to one of the world’s premier sporting events.
“Since being drafted by the Fever, fans have been clamoring to share the epic celebration and thrilling excitement of Indy 500 Race Day with Caitlin,” Boles said. “Caitlin will bring unique energy and presence to a quintessentially Hoosier experience and an absolutely bucket list global sporting spectacle.”
Clark will be making the appearance as part of her sponsorship of Gainbridge — President Derek Towriss said Clark’s connection to the company and the city makes the partnership a natural fit.
Clark also continues to shine internationally after earning MVP honors at the 2026 FIBA World Cup Qualifying Tournament. Before turning pro, she capped a historic college career by becoming the all-time leading scorer in NCAA basketball history, surpassing both men’s and women’s records.
Previous Indianapolis 500 grand marshals have included Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez, Blake Shelton and Stephanie Beatriz.
