(Audubon) The Audubon Wheelers have won their 5th straight girls basketball game to improve to 6-1 on the season. Tuesday night brought a decisive 73-27 victory at Riverside.
Aleah Hermansen scored 20 points and Jaci Christensen added 14. The Wheeler wasted little time in gaining a big lead. The visitors darted out to a 10-2 cushion and then scored eleven of the next thirteen points to race in front 21-4. Coach Darran Miller’s team splashed in ten 3-pointers in the victory and had eleven different players score. In addition to 20 points, Hermansen had 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 steal. Christensen notched 4 rebounds and was 6/6 from the free-throw line.
The Wheelers built the lead to 28-9 at the end of the first quarter. They outscored Riverside 15-6 in the 2nd and put the running clock rule into place early in the third quarter. The team collected 16 steals in the win and gathered in 40 rebounds. 23 of the boards were on the offensive end.
Riverside was led in scoring by Franee Maher with 12 and Ashlynn Amdor with 11 points. The Lady Dawgs drop to 1-6 heading into the holiday break. Audubon has Underwood coming up on Thursday. The 73 points are a new season high for Audubon’s offense.
