(Ames, IA) — Iowa St. will have to pick themselves up and get back in the saddle on Saturday when they host West Virginia, coverage on KSOM.
The Cyclones trailed 24-3 to Utah last week at the half but came back and played much better in the 2nd half and gave the Utes a little bit of a scare before succumbing 31-17. Head Coach Jimmy Rogers says its a learning experience and thanked the fans for staying in the 2nd half and the players fed off their energy
On defense, Rogers counted 29 missed tackles against Utah which is way too high — he says that cannot happen again
QB Jaylen Raynor was 21 of 40 passing for 205 yards, 1 TD and 2 INT — he ran for 27 yards and a TD. Rogers says Raynor made some mistakes no doubt but he refuses to blame him completely
Rogers like the way the offense looked when they increased the tempo in the 2nd half
This week, Iowa St. faces an up tempo offense in West Virginia — QB Michael Hawkins operates a spread option attack
Rogers has respect for Mountaineers Head Coach Rich Rodriquez
West Virginia is 3-1, Iowa St. is 2-2, Kickoff at 11:00 am, Cyclones Pre Game at 9:00 am on KSOM.
