(Neola, IA) — After last week’s win over Underwood, Treynor has the inside track to the Class 1A, District 8 title but Tri Center can mess it all up tonight, coverage on KSOM and Western Iowa Today TV.
The Trojans got their first district win last week 51-7 over Red Oak. A win over the Cardinals would put them in a three way tie with the Eagles. Tri Center has lost to some good football teams — St. Albert, OABCIG, Hinton and Underwood and Head Coach Jake Gentille believes his team can play with anybody
Gentille has been wanting to get Freshman Tyler Hazen involved in the running game for the last couple of weeks and he finally did against the Tigers and Hazen responded — 16 carries for 114 yards and 3 TD. Gentille says he runs with incredible balance
Adan Goldapp will still get some at running back but Gentille wants to use him more as a Swiss Army Knife utility player on both sides of the ball.
Treynor is coming off a 28-12 victory over Underwood and Gentille says the Cardinals have some size
Tri Center’s leading tackler Jayden Johnson is out for the season with an injury and that will make it extra difficult to stop Treynor’s leading rusher Finn Mieska who has 667 yards and 5 TDs
Treynor’s win over Underwood was thanks to a great defensive effort says Head Coach Jeff Casey but his offense had to chance to score more points if they did not turn it over
Junior Kyle Parrott leads the Cardinals in tackles with 39; 14 of them came against the Eagles
Tri Center’s QB is AJ Harder who has thrown for 917 yards, 7 TD, 3 INT; he is the leading rusher with 319 yards and 5 TD. Casey says he is even more dangerous because of his running ability
Casey says you have to throw the records out the window in this game
#5 ranked Treynor is 4-1; Tri Center is 1-4. Scouting Report at 5; In the Huddle 5:15; Pre Game 6:30; Kickoff 7 pm on KSOM and Western Iowa Today TV.
