(Guthrie Center, IA) — The State of Iowa is reorganizing its health and human services delivery into seven unified regional districts. Health Services Director Jotham Arber addressed this at this Tuesday’s meeting of the supervisors. Arber says the state is taking money for public health services and putting it into a pool and want someone to take the lead in each district. Arber says that he is trying to get Guthrie County to take the lead in their district
Public health deliverables are tangible work products, data reports, or completed interventions produced by health programs to measure progress and protect community well being. The state will give the leader in each district $591,000
Arber would like to establish a district council to make decisions for the entire district with someone from Guthrie County being the chair.
Arber says the state would like the district lead to focus on three specific areas — communicable disease and outbreak solutions, chronic disease, and collaboration among all the services.
Guthrie County is part of District 4 with Adair, Adams, Audubon, Cass, Fremont, Mills, Montgomery, Page, Pottawattamie, Ringgold, Shelby, Taylor and Union Counties. Arber says its a unique district
Arber will file a notice to intent to become a district lead by this Friday.
