Steven “Steve” Lee Fay, 68, of Oak Grove, Missouri, peacefully passed away on September 3, 2026, at home surrounded by the people who loved him. He was born on August 6, 1958, in Atlantic, Iowa, to Lester and Shirley Fay.
For 35 years, Steve worked as a master plumber. When he wasn’t working, he knew how to enjoy himself. He was a die-hard Chiefs fan, and you could often find him playing darts, shooting pool, spending time outdoors, or smoking meat.
After nearly 10 years together, Steve and his wife, Kathy, were married on October 2, 2011, at Arrowhead Stadium. Their life together was built on love, laughter, and more than a few Chiefs games along the way.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Shirley Fay; sister, Vicky Travis; sister-in-law, Linda Fay; stepson, Donald “Logan” Duncan; niece, Ashley Fay; and grandson, Kolby Fay.
He leaves behind his wife, Kathy Fay; brothers, Brett and Eldon Fay; son and daughter-in-law, Justin and Aaren Fay; stepson and daughter-in-law, Danny and Vanessa Duncan; nephews, Patrick and Steven Fay; and grandchildren, Abigail, Brooke, Brody, Jackson, Lillee, Sydnee, and Tyeler.
Steve will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew and loved him. His stories, his sense of humor, his stubborn streak, and the memories he made with the people closest to him will live on long after he is gone.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 17th, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Davis Memorial Center in Oak Grove, Missouri.
